Best Roofing Company in Dublin
How to Choose (and Why We're Recommended in 2026)
How to Choose (and Why We're Recommended in 2026)

There is no official ranking body for Irish roofers. Anyone with a van and a ladder can call themselves a Dublin roofing contractor. What follows is a plain checklist of the things you can verify yourself, in under ten minutes, before handing over a deposit.
| Trust signal | What to look for | How to check |
|---|---|---|
| CIRI registration | Active member | ciri.ie member search |
| Public liability insurance | €6.5 million minimum | Ask for the certificate and check the expiry date |
| Employer liability insurance | €13 million minimum | Same certificate, separate line |
| Written guarantee | Minimum 3 years on repairs, 10 years on replacements | In the quote, not verbal |
| Google reviews | Verified, with a consistent pattern of responses | Google Business Profile |
| Fixed-price written quote | Itemised, VAT shown separately | Compare at least two quotes |
| Direct-employed crews | Their own people, not subcontracted | Ask the question directly |
If a roofer cannot satisfy you on two or more of these, move on. The Irish roofing trade has a well-documented problem with subcontracting, verbal guarantees and prices that move once the scaffolding is up. The checklist above is not paranoia; it is the minimum due diligence any homeowner should carry out.
The Construction Industry Register Ireland is the statutory register for construction contractors. CIRI members meet defined competency and insurance requirements and can be removed from the register for poor practice. A badge on a lead-generation directory mostly confirms that someone paid a subscription.
Directories are useful for finding names, but they do not audit workmanship, do not check tax compliance, and have no role once the job is finished. Ask any Dublin homeowner who has tried to chase a warranty callback through a platform that simply introduced the contractor.
Recommended Roofing is CIRI registered. We actively encourage customers to check our registration, our insurance certificates and our VAT number (IE04393055LH) before appointing us. A contractor who does not want to be checked is telling you something.
Dublin's older housing stock is unforgiving. Much of the city's Victorian and Edwardian terrace stock has fragile natural slate, cast-iron valleys and shared party walls. A scaffold pole through a neighbour's window on a shared laneway in D6 can produce a serious claim.
Ask for a certificate showing public liability of at least €6.5 million and employer liability of at least €13 million. Any legitimate Dublin roofer will produce this without hesitation. Hesitation is itself informative.
Recommended Roofing carries €6.5 million public liability and €13 million employer liability. Both are verifiable.
A guarantee written on the back of an invoice is worth nothing if the company closes. Look for three things:
Recommended Roofing hands the guarantee over in writing before work begins, not afterwards. On full roof replacements, the 10-year workmanship guarantee and the Lifetime Leak Guarantee both apply automatically. Neither is an upsell or a registration product.
One thing worth knowing: some contractors advertise guarantee periods that do not exist in their actual documentation. The only figures we quote are the ones above, and they are the same on every job.
Dublin is not one roofing market. What is appropriate for a 1930s Cabra semi is not the same as what a 2000s Sandyford apartment needs, and a Georgian terrace in Rathmines is a different job again. The best roofer for your property is one who has demonstrably worked on your type of roof before.
On a flat roof job in Blackrock we found that a failing felt roof had already let water into the building, so the repair scope included both the roof and the internal damage the water had reached. Water does not stay where the stain is. See our flat roof replacement guide for Dublin for more on how flat roofs fail.
All ranges below are indicative and subject to a free written inspection. VAT at 13.5% applies on top. The right price for your roof depends on area, pitch, access, condition of the battens and felt underneath, and whether guttering is being renewed at the same time.

Scaffolding is not included automatically. It is priced in only where the building is particularly high or where it sits on a busy street with heavy pedestrian traffic. Where scaffolding is needed, it appears as a separate line on the quote. See our new roof cost guide for Dublin and the full price guide for more detail.
After any significant storm event, the number of transient traders operating in Dublin rises sharply. Verifying credentials before agreeing to work is straightforward and costs nothing.
“Really happy with service provided. They were extremely helpful and efficient from start to finish. An assessment and quote were provided the day after I first got in touch, and the repair was completed within a week. The issue and proposed solution were clearly explained, and I really appreciated that they recommended a proportionate repair rather than simply suggesting everything needed to be replaced. Very professional, straightforward and efficient service. Would definitely recommend!”Alice Daniels, Dublin, ★★★★★ on Google

Repair work should carry a written guarantee of at least 3 years, up to 10 years on major repairs. Full roof replacements should carry a 10-year written workmanship guarantee plus a Lifetime Leak Guarantee. The guarantee should be on headed paper, with the company's details, and handed over before contracts are signed.
Indicative 2026 ranges are €400 to €2,500 for a leak repair and €1,500 to €8,000 for emergency storm damage work. These are ranges; the actual cost depends on the cause, the extent of damage and access. VAT at 13.5% applies on top. A free written inspection will give you a fixed price.
Indicative 2026 ranges are €8,000 to €18,000 for a three-bed semi with concrete tiles and €12,000 to €28,000 for natural slate. The final price depends on roof area, pitch, access, the condition of battens and felt underneath, and whether guttering is renewed at the same time. VAT at 13.5% applies on top.
No, scaffolding is not automatic. It is priced separately where the building is particularly high or where it sits on a busy street with heavy pedestrian traffic. Most repair jobs do not require scaffolding. Where it is needed, it appears as a separate line on the written quote.
Yes. Recommended Roofing offers 24-hour emergency response and aims to be on site within 4 hours for active leaks. Emergency securing typically costs €200 to €500; temporary weatherproofing €300 to €800; and a safety assessment €200 to €400. The emergency call-out makes the roof safe; the permanent repair is quoted separately once conditions allow a full assessment.
SEAI grants cover attic insulation upgrades, not roof coverings themselves. A full re-roof is a practical time to upgrade attic insulation to current standards and claim the relevant SEAI grant separately. See the SEAI grants page at https://www.seai.ie/grants/ for current eligibility.
If the underlay and battens have failed across the whole roof, repair becomes the more expensive option paid in instalments. If the structure underneath is sound and the problem is localised, repair is almost always the right answer. A free inspection will give you an honest recommendation either way.
Recommended Roofing directly employs its crews. We do not subcontract. The people on your roof are our own people, and the guarantee is ours to stand over.
Key warning signs: cash-only deals with no VAT number, door-to-door callers who claim they spotted damage from the road, deposits of more than a third of the job value before materials arrive, no verifiable business address, pressure to sign on the day, and no written breakdown of costs.
At Recommended Roofing, the price on the written quote is the price you pay. If a pre-purchase inspection reveals unexpected structural problems underneath once stripping begins, we explain what we found and agree any change with you in writing before continuing.
